In broad terms, how would you describe what has been happening in Gaza since October 7, 2023? How does it connect to what is happening in the West Bank?

Without announcing it, Israel has been carrying out, since October 7, the “Decisive Plan” of Bezalel Smotrich, its minister of finance and deputy minister of security, an outspoken ideologue, activist, and promoter of the one-state-for-one-people-only “solution.” Back in 2017, Smotrich outlined his plan, based on the assertion that the land between the river and the sea can and should contain only one nation-state — a Jewish one.1

He said the Palestinians had two options: acquiesce and remain as noncitizen individuals in the Jewish state, or emigrate. Those who decide to remain and resist (he does not even specify the mode of resistance) will be “dealt with by the security forces.”2
