A Socialist Party in Our Time?

This article offers a way forward for the electoral dimension of socialist politics in the United States. We begin by examining the barriers imposed by existing institutions — the electoral system, the Democratic Party, and big-money donors. We then propose as a solution a regionally focused “party-surrogate” model capable of mobilizing working-class voters disillusioned with the Democratic Party.
